Foghorn

MacKerricher State Park north of Mendocino, CA, features a variety of terrain and natural textures perfect for painting. Being a native northern Californian, I appreciate being a part of nature, whether it's painting, exercising, or simply enjoying my natural surroundings. That enjoyment is accompanied by a personal peace, that peace that I felt in this environment. On my palette I employed cools of the background against the warm accents of the foreground. Horizontals and diffused edges and soft grays in the composition communicate stillness. I hope the viewer hears the foghorn in the way I saw this scene.
