Fallow Days

This abandoned sharecropper’s house is in the field next to our farm. I often stop
To observe the light effects and shadows as the day passes. This particular painting was done in the late spring before the fields were planted. The house is simple, as are the shadows. With the house abandoned, the fields are now planted right up to the house, but I sense such life around this old house and love the play of mauve metal roof against the complimentary golds and greens of emerging fields.
