French Countryside, Walla Walla, WA

While on a paintout near Walla Walla, WA, this beautiful scene reminded me of the French countryside, thus the title. I worked in plein air, later finishing it from photographs in my studio. I love painting cypress trees as they add vertical interest and abstract shapes to the landscape in contrast to the horizon.
