Horseshoe Bend Overlook

Oil painting completed in the studio from a Plein air study. We live 12 miles from the Ohio river and this overlook is particularly scenic. In the past two years I have challenged myself to complete several paintings depicting water and so far this image is the one I am most pleased with partially due to the composition and partially due to my increasing comfort level of painting water. I painted this particular image as a gift for a dear friend who has become one of my collectors. I plan to paint this particular again from my Plein air study in a larger format.
