Oil painting on Ampersand gessobord. My husband and I rescued this Kachina doll from a trading post which was going out of business. As a child I had several Apache and Navajo children in my class. Since that time cultures of the different Native American tribes fascinate me as does the history of the Southwest. The kachina is part of the Hopi people's spiritual culture. There are about 400 different kachina spirits.
