This started as most other plein air paintings I have done. About 2 hours into it the owner of the property pulls up on the road next to me and asks begrudgingly "What are you doing?". I said I love this barn and had to paint it. She was still confused and then asked "why?" I said simply because I love painting barns and country settings. "Huh" she replied, "well I can't wait to tear it down. I don't want to look at it anymore and its too much to upkeep." I was taken aback by how different our views were on this. The old adage "one man's trash is another man's treasure" still holds strong. The barn may very well have been taken down the next day, but it will live on in the form of a painting.
