This painting was completed en plein air. I worked on it over a period of two weeks only because I needed to wait for the almond blossoms to open. I have painted this cement planter many times. In a way it is a self portrait. I started this painting at the start of lockdown for Covid. I was thinking about the anticipation of cutting the arcing almond branches. The objects are portrayed nearly life size and the view really draws you down into the garden. This painting has a partner titled Dormant of the same size.
