Winter Shadows

I'm very drawn to dramatic patterns of light and shadow as a motif that I revisit. This composition was in the backyard of some good friends in Northern Kentucky. I was drawn by the early morning light and the warmth that it provided, as it was contrasted against the cooler long shadow patterns; it depicts the middle of winter where the creek bed has exposed rocks and shoreline and the water is mostly frozen over. I enjoyed the challenge of bringing warmth into this winter scene.
