Beaver Pond, July late afternoon

My first completed oil painting. This is a beaver pond outside my home/studio. The beaver dam spans the width of the painting, but is not visible in this view, obscured by the shrubbery that flourishes this time of year when the water is low. On this hot summer afternoon, I was struck by the brilliance of the sun lighting up the lush scene, and the blue-green of the woods showing through beyond the dam. Oil on gessobord.
