Facing the Day

An amazing Osprey, with the sun behind - pastel painting using some water media techniques to add texture and looseness. I enjoy creating a border, a frame within a piece, or just accentuating geometrical patterns and shapes - in this piece I've added a bit of a border that has subtle depictions of what make up the life of an Osprey - sticks and reeds etc to create a nest, fish and other small animals that make up it's diet.
